From "The Hood" and "The Rage" to "The Uprising"
During the initial script development and early packaging stages between 2022 and 2023, preliminary trade reports and production registries occasionally referred to the project under working titles such as The Hood or The Rage.
We clarify that those were preliminary development working labels. When Focus Features, Blumhouse Productions, and FilmNation Entertainment finalized the production agreement and began principal photography in 2025, the title was officially and definitively locked as The Uprising.
Practical UK Filming & Medieval Sets
Rather than shooting on soundstages surrounded by green screens, director Paul Greengrass and production designer Nikolaj Danielsen prioritized practical locations across Kent, Essex, and Northern England. Full-scale 14th-century peasant villages, thatch-roof cottages, and timber river crossings were constructed to give the actors an authentic environment.
